Work on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train has been going on at an impressive speed, ever since it began in November 2021. The first section of the high-speed rail corridor is expected to be completed by August 2026. And we now have new updates on the several features of this much-awaited and first-of-its-kind transport system in India.

India’s Union Minister for Railways took to X on Monday to share an animated video, detailing some standout features of the Bullet Train, which are as follows:

It boasts a lightning-fast speed of 320 km/h.

The train will reduce the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just 2 hours, covering 508 km. Currently, Vande Bharat Express is the fastest train plying between the two cities, which takes approximately 6.5 hours for a one-sided journey.

The corridor will feature the slab track system, an advanced technology being used for the first time in India.

It will also have an early earthquake detection system.

The corridor will feature 24 river bridges and 28 steel bridges.

The Bullet Train will go through a total of 7 mountain tunnels.

It will also pass through undersea tunnels stretching across 7 km.

The entire corridor will have 12 stations, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
