This year, though, these elegant birds have made a surprising and spectacular summer appearance. You can now spot groups of 30-50 flamingos on the northern side of the lake, where the water level is kept shallow at less than 2 feet, providing an ideal foraging ground for them.

Local efforts to keep the ‘pink show’ going!
Thanks to the diligent efforts of the local staff, the water level is carefully maintained by regulating the flow of Narmada water into the lake. The staff frequently monitor the surrounding areas, including Nani Katechi, Parali, Vadla, Ranagadh, and Mulbavla, to prevent excess water from entering the lake.
According to ornithologists, the presence of such a high number of flamingos during the summer is a rare and delightful event. These birds thrive in saline, shallow wetlands where they can feed on seeds, crustaceans, and small fish. Last year, there were only a few flamingos at this Ramsar site but this season, their numbers have significantly increased.

With fewer tourists braving the peak summer heat, the flamingos have found a peaceful haven. While common egrets and other resident birds are also present, the migratory bird population is absent during this time of year.
