Ahmedabad to receive heavy rainfall over the next few days, says IMD

Monsoon season arrived in Ahmedabad on June 26 with high intensity. The city recorded 22mm of precipitation till 4:00 PM covering parts of Shivranjani Crossroads, Valinath Chowk, Panchvati Crossroads and Madalpur, which remained waterlogged for a while.

As per India Meteorological Department (IMD) prediction, Ahmedabad will receive heavy rainfall today and next few days.

Downpour brought water-logging to various parts of Ahmedabad 

Western parts of Ahmedabad recorded relatively high amount of rainfall when compared to eastern parts on June 26. Following this, Mithakhali underpass was closed for vehicular traffic from 2:50 PM for one hour to prevent any untoward incident.  As per officials, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) received 10 calls regarding water-logging in the city. 

As a safety measure, authorities have deployed 25 dewatering pumps in low-lying areas. Additionally, maximum temperature in Ahmedabad today is expected to stand at 32°C and minimum at 25°C. Average humidity in the city currently is 71%.

Speaking about Gujarat, 147 talukas received minimum 1mm of average rainfall. Moreover, Umargam in Valsad received 131mm of rainfall till 8 PM, followed by Mahemdavad - 111mm, Nadiad - 110mm, Morbi - 84mm and Wadhwan - 75mm.
