In view of the rising mercury and the scorching heat, air coolers and water sprinklers have been installed for the animals at Ahmedabad zoo. Apart from the 25 air coolers, the officials at Ahmedabad's Kankaria zoo have also planted a lot of trees within the premises, which will not only provide shade to the animals but further cool the environment.

For enclosures exposed to the sun, green nets have been used to protect the animal inmates, which is said to decrease the temperature by about 7-8 degrees while protecting the animal inmates from the harmful UV rays. Lastly, all the animals are under 24-hour observation by the officials to ensure swift action if any of the animals suffer due to sudden temperature rise or hot winds.
