'Oxygen Banks' in Rajasthan to provide O2 concentrators to COVID patients in home isolation

Muskaan Tekwani

The administration in Rajasthan has decided to set up 'Oxygen Banks' in Jaipur and other districts to facilitate a seamless and decentralised supply of the O2 concentrators to the needy. People can ring up the helpline number to receive the oxygen concentrators within an hour. Patients will have to pay a security deposit of ₹5,000 to procure these, which will be refunded after the equipment is returned.

The Medical and Health Department has directed all district collectors to set up 'Oxygen Banks' at District Drug Warehouses or DDCs attached to the ADMs office. These regional units will help to timely lend the medical equipment to COVID patients in home isolation.

The 'Oxygen Bank' in Jaipur will store about 500 concentrations, read reports. Besides the state capital, these many O2 concentrators will also be made available at each divisional headquarter, including Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, and Bharatpur. On the other hand, district headquarters warehouses will have a minimum of 400 concentrators.

The family of the COVID patient who needs oxygen support can reach out to the '181' helpline number or contact the officers posted at the district warehouse. The administration has mandated a doctor's prescription to avail of this facility. The helpline operator will note the patient's number and address and then relay it to the concerned 'Oxygen Bank' officials. These officials will then get in contact with the family of the patient and verify documents before providing the oxygen concentrator. People can directly reach out to the Oxygen Banks and collect their concentrators.
