Kanpur Central Railway Station, that sees a high footfall of travellers from across India on a daily basis, has now achieved the title of an ‘Eat Right Station' following the footsteps of Prayagraj, Gwalior, Dabhaura, and Dabra. This is in resonance with the goal of making food sustainable, hygienic, and healthy.

With this, Kanpur Central has achieved a five-star rating and FSSAI-issued certification, hitting the mark of a station making optimum efforts to provide standard, healthy and safe food to all its passengers.

What is an 'Eat Right Station'?

The certification of 'Eat Right Station' for the same is awarded to railway stations by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) in recognition of the provision of wholesome, healthy, and safe food to passengers. The certificate is proffered to a station post evaluation by an FSSAI-enlisted third-party audit agency.

Five steps to achieving an Eat Right Station certification incorporate identification/nomination, pre-audit on the given checklist, FOSTAC training through FSSAI-empanelled training partners, and final audit by FSSAI-empaneled third-party auditing agencies or Hygiene Rating Auditors, after which a certification that is valid for 2 years will be awarded to the registered station.
