Adani Ganj, Adani Shahar loading- Lucknow’s landmarks ready for takeover

88 properties, one buyer!

Adani Group has moved a step closer to acquiring some of Sahara India’s marquee properties, including two landmarks close to Lucknow’s heart: Sahara Ganj Mall and Sahara Shahar. Sahara Ganj once thrived with big brands and weekend crowds, while Sahara Shahar stood as a symbol of the group’s hometown pride. Now both sit in limbo, awaiting a new chapter under the Adani banner. For Lucknow, the question is simple, will this deal breathe new life into two of the city’s most recognisable spaces?

What’s on the table

The proposed single-block sale includes Sahara Ganj Mall (5.7 acres) and Sahara Shahar (170 acres) in Lucknow. Alongside them, the deal also covers 88 properties nationwide, such as Aamby Valley in Maharashtra, Sahara Star hotel in Mumbai, and several other properties across other states.

Why it matters

A court-supervised, all-in-one sale could finally cut through a decade of stalled monetisation. Previous attempts to sell Sahara’s assets floundered in the courts or failed to attract credible buyers. This one-shot deal with Adani promises a way forward for the group’s creditors.
