In a bid to expand the state's green cover, the Uttar Pradesh government is all set to implement its first agroforestry policy. The said policy will be directed towards planting trees on agricultural land, along with crops. The new agroforestry policy is ready and will now be sent to the cabinet for approval.

Apart from increasing the UP's green cover, the policy will boost farmer's income, improve soil quality, and encourage tree-based businesses, as well. As part of the policy, farmers in UP are getting free saplings to plant, based on their preference.
