Lucknow once again became the country’s second most polluted city with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 370. While Kanpur was country’s most polluted city with an AQI of 371 on Wednesday.

North India is under the severe grip of air pollution since last one month. About 20 days ago, Lucknow was the most polluted city in the country, followed by Delhi, Varanasi, and Ghaziabad.

However, thanks to government efforts, the level of dust in Lucknow’s air was slowly coming down but the recent increase in humidity led to a steep rise in air pollution on Wednesday.

The PM 2.5 level was four times higher than the permissible limit. The highest PM 2.5 of 308 was recorded in Lucknow at Talkatora area.

Meanwhile, Lucknow also witnessed light rain on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. This will definitely help in settling the dust and will thereby aid in reducing pollution on Thursday.

On Wednesday, the pollution in Delhi improved immensely by around 100 units and the AQI of 281 was recorded, which is still four times above the permissible limit.
