Lucknow under a spell of heavy rainfall; schools to remain shut

Indian Meteorological department has declared an orange alert regarding heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Lucknow for the next 24 hours.

On account of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms all over Lucknow and nearby regions in Uttar Pradesh, government and private schools have been ordered to remain closed for today. At the same time, the IMC has also issued an Orange Alert regarding the incessant rainfall.

District Magistrate of Lucknow passed this decision on October 9 and has advised the residents of the city to stay away from open sewers, electric wires and poles. They also avoided against going to crowded areas amid heavy rainfall.

Water logging, lightning strikes areas of the city

Lucknow has been under a constant spell of extreme rainfall and thunderstorm for the considerable amount of the recent past. Reportedly, lighting strikes were also witnessed in certain areas of the city. Furthermore, many areas have been affected by severe water logging, which has brought the city and its residents to a standstill.

As per the updated report of Indian Meteorological Department issued this Sunday, an orange alert has been declared in Lucknow regarding heavy rainfall and thunderstorm for the next 24 hours. IMD has also issued guidelines for the residents of the affected cities which can be checked here.
