BNA Director Bipin Kumar has rolled out plans for starting a special weekend theatre club at the academy. This club, that aims to spark children's interest in performing arts through innovative theatre games, will run for three months.

After the completion of the time-period, participating kids will put up a stage play and, subsequently, will be given certificates. The process of taking decisions by the authorities at BNA is still underway and more details will be released once the plan is finalised.

More changes at BNA

At the same time, BNA Director expressed his objective of encouraging theatre in the city. While, till now, thespians could watch all plays taking place in the academy for free, now he intends to charge for the same. This will be done to augment the place and recognition given to theatre and elevate its reputation and value. This will also, in turn, render much-needed appreciation and importance to theatre artistes.

A multi-lingual theatre festival is also being talked of, where Lucknowites will be able to watch various plays in numerous dialects and languages. At the same time, BNA students are also expected to see certain changes in the syllabus as study tours are in the pipeline. These tours will be added to get them acquainted with traditional theatre forms. Herein, eminent theatre doyens will be roped in, in the form of guest lecturers.
