Mumbai is gearing up to face a scorching heatwave, with local weather reports predicting temperatures to reach an intense 41-43°C till April 17. This surge could mark Mumbai's first 40°C temperature of the season on Tuesday. To ensure public safety, citizens are advised to avoid outdoor activities between 11 AM and 4 PM.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has observed a steady rise in day temperatures, with Friday's reading hitting 35.8°C, compared to 33.5°C the previous day. Despite stable minimum temperatures, authorities anticipate further escalation in the coming days.

As Mumbai braces for the heatwave, health officials have reported 77 cases of heatstroke in the state between March 1 and April 12, with 36 cases recorded between April 4 and April 12 alone. While Mumbai has not yet crossed 40°C, neighbouring areas like Thane, Nagpur, and Chandrapur have experienced higher temperatures.

In response to the impending heatwave, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued guidelines, urging residents to carry water bottles, wear caps, use umbrellas, and wear sunglasses when outside.
