In a bid to encourage voter turnout during the upcoming Phase 5 of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Mumbai, the Maha Mumbai Metro administration has announced a special discount for commuters on polling day, May 20. The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) revealed that passengers traveling on Metro lines 2A and 7 will enjoy a 10 percent discount on their tickets.

The discount scheme is part of the Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme and aims to boost participation in the democratic process by making it easier for voters to reach polling stations. Commuters using Mumbai One cards, paper QR, or paper tickets are eligible for the discount on their return journey after casting their votes.

With five Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai up for grabs in the final phase of elections, the MMMOCL hopes to contribute to a higher voter turnout through this scheme.
