Mumbai's suburban railway network is set for a major revamp to combat overcrowding and space limitations. The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC), under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP-3A), is spearheading the construction of elevated decks above platforms at 17 key stations. This innovative initiative, expected to be completed between 2025 and 2027, aims to enhance station capacity and streamline passenger movement.
The new decks will connect directly to foot overbridges (FOBs), ensuring smoother passenger movement. Shops and offices currently on platforms will be relocated to these decks.
