Mumbaikars can now prepare for a smooth ride! Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that vehicular movement between the Gopal Krishna Gokhale Bridge and CD Barfiwala Flyover will commence from July 1. This development will allow motorists from Juhu to access Andheri East or Western Express Highway via the stretch.

The misalignment issue between the bridges arose after the Gokhale Bridge incident. BMC began groundwork on April 14 to align the flyovers' levels. As per officials, using innovative hydraulic jacks, BMC has raised girders by impressive heights—1,397 mm and 650 mm each—while also installing six new bearings for stability.

The Barfiwala Flyover (2008) connects Juhu to the north-south arms of the original Gokhale Bridge (1960). The old bridge was demolished in 2022 and replaced with a new one, which opened for traffic on February 26, this year.

However, due to railway guidelines, the new Gokhale Bridge had to be elevated six meters above the tracks, causing a misalignment with the Barfiwala Flyover.
