Locals and tourists commuting in Goa can take a sigh of relief, as Goa’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Omvir Singh, on Friday, passed an order to ensure road safety and traffic police reliability. As per the new order, vehicles would be stopped only if there was a visible traffic violation. The SDPOS, DySP Traffic, incharges of Traffic Cell and Police Stations have been entrusted to comply with the new rule.
Reportedly, traffic was halted for the want of checking requisite documents, creating chaos and inconvenience. Even the stakeholders from the tourism industry had complained that traffic police were seen stopping tourists unnecessarily, causing harassment and inconvenience to the public.
