With the declining number of dengue patients, citizens in Indore can see a silver lining finally. Reportedly, the case count in rural areas has sloped downwards from the last two weeks, as indicated by the survey conducted by health officials in the city. As per reports, the logs of October 2 show a dip in the patient tally to around 4% in the rural sector, compared to an average dengue rate of about 6% recorded in September.
Lack of luxuries proved beneficial for rural areas
Dengue is caused by the bite of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which breeds in dirty and unhygienic water accumulated in coolers, air conditioners and other similar spots. As per claims, the mosquitoes breed comparatively lesser in the rural areas and thus a lower infection rate is reported in the areas.
As per reports, over 10 areas in the rural sectors including Mundla Nayata village, Anuragpura Dhannad, Ralia, Khet Mohalla and others recorded multiple dengue cases in the past few days. Similarly, more than 12 areas like Ahirkhedi, Shanti Vihar Colony, Near Kanyashala school, Kadwali and the like recorded at least one vector-borne infection. Now, the case tallies are sloping downwards, bringing some relief for the city folks.
Indore crossed the highest count of dengue cases in the past 10-12 years
It is important to note that Indore has crossed the highest tally of the past 10-12 years, with a cumulative case count nearing the 500 mark, reportedly. Further, reports state that approximately 440 cases were registered by the health officials in the last 60 days itself. Notably, the monsoons are being considered as the biggest contributor to this spike.
