Amid the surging swell of the coronavirus infection in Indore, the underway Janta Curfew has been extended till May 7, informed authorities on Friday. Ordained by the District Collector, the curfew scope has been stretched under Section 144 of the CrPC to break the chain of rapid transmission here. Indore has been continually reporting over 1500 cases every day, for the last 18 days, despite an active curfew prohibition since April 20.
COVID rise continues in Indore
The Janta Curfew guidelines and restrictions have not been altered and will be enforced for an extended week in Indore. The public movement will be permitted for essential and emergency purposes only. Milk, grocery, fruits and vegetable outlets have been allowed to function with restrictions. Timings have also been fixed and the services will be available only as per the slated schedule.
The urban areas of Indore have been worst-affected by the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, where the virus growth rate has progressed to 2.5% in the last week itself. Consequently, the curfew implications have been extended here, to lower the volatile transmission rate and positivity ratio of the virus infection. At present, Indore is nursing a 16.1% high active caseload, i .e, for every 100 confirmed cases, around 16 are currently seeking treatment.
Indore recorded a rise of 1,811 fresh cases on Friday, pushing the active caseload to 12,278 patients. As of now, recovery stands at 87.8% here, the highest in Madhya Pradesh. In absolute numbers, around 97,423 recoveries have been noted here. The death toll surged to 113, by a single death on April 30.
