Following the completion of the High Priority corridor of the Indore Metro, the Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (MPMRCL) is now working on the remaining Phase-1 construction.
The latest development includes an underground section between Palasia and MG Road areas. Senior officials have highlighted three distinct approaches for this construction. A high-level meeting with state representatives and MPMRCL authorities was held recently, to finalize the approach.
What are the suggested approaches for creating underground corridor?
Among the three suggested approaches for tunneling, the first proposes making the Metro route underground from Bengali Square. The second suggestion is to start the underground section from Agriculture College instead of Bengali Square, which is currently under study. The third suggestion is to use Race Course Road instead of MG Road. Technical experts will conduct comprehensive surveys and feasibility studies, on these three options.
On the other hand, extensive trial runs are underway on the super priority corridor of the Indore metro. This segment, spanning from Gandhi Nagar to Super Corridor-03, is scheduled to open to the public in August this year.
Furthermore, a deadline of year 2027 has been set by MPMRCL for the completion of the entire Phase-1 corridor of Indore Metro.
