Indore Smart City Development Ltd takes another step towards making Indore a model smart city. Under an all new project, Radio Frequency Smart Water Meters will be installed in over 24,000 households at an estimated cost of ₹52 crores. These households are set to receive water from Narmada water supply.
Radio frequency water meters will digitise bills
As per the officials, the project will be implemented in an Area Based Development (ABD), which has been divided into four District Metering Areas (DMAs) including CP Shekhar Nagar, Jinsi, Subhash Chowk, and Chhatribagh.
The initiative is aimed at making water bills more accurate, with the aid of radio frequency meters. In addition to that, the adoption of this technology will also ease bill generation and collection.
A similar system was used by the Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company, ensuring efficient collection and generation of electricity bills.
At present, ISCDL has already initiated the work to install the radio frequency smart meters, and plan to complete it in the next three months. Additionally, a dedicated 92km long underground water supply network is being installed. Once pipeline installation is completed, the installation of smart water meters will begin.
