A revolutionary feat in the foray of energy distribution, diesel, in Rajasthan, is now one of those commodities that will be delivered right at your doorstep. This landmark change is not only changing the dynamics of the fuel industry in the desert state but is also easing the lives of the end-customers, facilitating hassle-free diesel procurement. This delivery aid averts the shortcomings of the existing diesel procurement arrangements and emerges as a model solution in these tough times!
Keeping up with the dynamic fuel industry
Pioneering an uncharted space, four fuel entrepreneurs in Rajasthan have buckled up to facilitate diesel by this novel door-to-door delivery model, including the Bikaner-based Hiralal Bhattar Petroleum. This unit has started to cater doorstep diesel energy delivery by means of their mobile petrol pumps. The activities of this startup are managed by Suresh Bhattar, who own a Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) retail outlet. “While having discussions with BPCL officials, they gave me the information so I thought this should be done for the welfare of the society,” Suresh said.
Similarly, Shree Mahadev Petroleum in Barmer has also dived into the delivery business. Reportedly, Mahendra Kumar, who is in the fuel business since 2011 looks after the operations of this startup. “There is a gas terminal near my petrol pump and so I saw a constant demand for diesel and thought of delivering it at people’s doorstep and to other bulk consumers, too,” said Mahendra. Kumar, who is also a dentist, has now acquired a mobile fuel pump to functionally carry out deliveries within a 40 km radius. His father is a cooperative bank manager and has partnered with him to seamlessly run the new business.
The story of the third Pali-based Manish Kishan Filling Station also runs along similar lines. Owned by Manish Choudhary, who also has authority over a Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) outlet, the Filling Station is dishing doorstep diesel delivery via a new acquired Mobil Petrol Pump. This unit has been stationed to meet the energy demand of many textile and mining industries located in the Pali district.
Manish Choudhary said, “I was searching for a solution regarding this issue when I came in contact with Tata-Repos Energy. They had developed a new fuel delivery system and I was impressed with the technology they were using. I did my research and bought Repose Energy’s Bowser (Doorstep Diesel Delivery System) in 2019. This type of system is very innovative and helps to resolve a genuine problem faced by industries,”
“Every business needs to change with time. And we want to take the first-mover advantage of introducing door-to-door diesel delivery services in our area,” said Akhil Sirohi who runs a Nagaur based fuel startup, started by M/s Sirohi Petroleum. A stakeholder of the fuel industry for over a decade, Sirohi launched doorstep diesel delivery from April 17, 2021 by partnering with his cousin Ashok Sirohi. He belongs to a family of Nagaur who has been in the mining and quick lime industry for the last 40 years.
A ‘new-age’ effective distribution concept
The Government has approved of the diesel doorstep delivery and has hailed it as a new-age concept of effective distribution of diesel. This method also doubles up as a regulatory provision to ensure that fuel startups maintain the quality of the product as well as create availability in response to consumer demand. The welfare scheme is expected to benefit the array of the agricultural sector, hospitals, housing societies, heavy machinery facilities, mobile towers, among others.
