World Wildlife Day falls on the 3rd of March and honestly we never pay much heed to this day at all, although it deserves our undivided attention.

Like seeing the sunrise or maybe feeling the wind blow, we’ve taken certain things for granted and our diverse wild and marine life is one of them! A crucial element which has been overshadowed by globalization and urbanization, we the commoners don’t know how to actually embrace this significant day.

Here in an attempt to spread a bit more awareness, we have curated a list of 5 wildlife places you can visit from Jaipur!

Desert National Park

Desert National Park is the place to be if you want to witness an abundance of bird-life! Perhaps this is one of the few parks in India where, if you’re lucky enough, you’ll spot the Great Indian Bustard- a critically endangered species found only in India. Desert National Park is an area which is strictly reserved for the betterment of the wildlife & biodiversity, and activities like forestry, development projects, poaching and hunting are not permitted here.

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary

Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary takes its name after the historic fort of Kumbhalgarh and this safari is worth a shot! This sanctuary is boasts of a wide variety of birds and rare species which makes KWS a must visit. This is the best place for avifauna lovers and is also ideal for visitors who want a taste of wildlife. Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary is the only sanctuary in Rajasthan which houses a dense population of wolves.

Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary

Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary is situated on one of the oldest mountain ranges in the country and it was once home to Asiatic lion and Bengal tigers. There is a verdant forest that meets the water and the valleys on the other side. This place houses a rich strength of bio-diversity and it is a great spot for the weekends if you want to escape the heat and your chaotic city life.

Ranthambore National Park

Ranthambore National Park is one of the biggest and most renowned national parks in northern India! This park is located in the southeastern part of Rajasthan, which is about 130 km from the city of Jaipur. This area was considered as one of the most popular hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur and today, the Ranthambore National Park’s terrain is a major tourist attraction spot! Many wildlife photographers throng this place for its diversity and alternating between dry deciduous forests and patches of grasslands, this park is one of the best places in the country to spot tigers.

Sajjangarh Sanctuary

Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary is situated 5kms in the west of the touristy city of Udaipur. This sanctuary surrounds the Sajjangarh Palace overlooking Udaipur and from the palace, you can steal a sprawling view of the lakes here and the majestic Aravalli hill ranges. This verdant sanctuary occupies the land which was once used as a royal hunting ground. The place now acts as a shelter for reptiles, tigers, wild boars, panthers, jackals, and other species!

So grab your bags and quickly set off on an adventure of a lifetime, to get a taste of the wildlife around you!
