Under the grips of a second COVID wave, the healthcare systems of major states are collapsing under tremendous pressure and the scenario in Rajasthan is no different. Thus, in an effort to match pace with the swelling number of COVID-19 infections in the state, especially in the capital city, the authorities are launching a help desk in Jaipur on Sunday. This contact centre will aid in resolving pressing issues like the shortage of medical-grade oxygen, medicines and so on, encountered by the citizens.

The ‘Medical Minister’s Help Desk’ has been set up in Jaipur’s Swasthya Bhawan and it will be operational round the clock, as per the officials. Further, Rajasthan’s Director of Public Health mentioned that in view of the increasing coronavirus infections in the state, this help desk is being flagged off from Sunday, in line with the instructions of the Health Minister. Citizens can call on 0141-2225624 or 2225000 to report their problems and consequently, a complaint will be registered and resolved soon, he added.
Ramping up the availability of medical-grade oxygen
Furthermore, as per the claims of the state government, 17 more oxygen tankers and 32,000 cylinders have been added to the existing fleet, to meet the increased demand amid COVID patients. The official statement also propounds that more than 32,000 cylinders previously being used for the supply of industrial oxygen, have now been acquired and are being handed over to district administrations for medical services.
It is also being reported that the number of oxygen tankers deployed in the state’s medical services has been increased from 6 to 23, in the last couple of days. Alongside, GPS and police escorts are making sure of the smooth and speedy transportation of the tankers.
Jaipur’s 8,000-bed COVID facility to start operations today
To further boost COVID-19 support in the state, Rajasthan’s biggest COVID care centre with a capacity of 8,000 beds, is starting off its operations today onwards. Established at the Radhaswami Satsang Bhawan, it will start functioning with 500 medical-surgical unit beds.
Besides that, several other facilities will be available at the Radhaswami Satsang Bhawan for the benefit of the isolated patients. About 1000 urinals and 500 bathrooms are being built here to uphold the prescribed norms of sanitation. Electrical systems such as fans and CCTV cameras will also be installed here. The roles and responsibilities of cleaning, sanitation and hospitality, have been assigned to different committees and officials to oversee the services, without hiccups.
Jaipur’s COVID-19 Update
The overall tally of COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan surged to 4,98,628 on Saturday, as 15,355 more people tested positive for the virus. The state also noted 74 fatalities in the last 24 hours, pushing the death toll to 3,527, till date. On the other hand, Jaipur noted 224 new detections on April 24, in contrast to its 719 fresh cases noted on April 23. The city’s recovery count stands at 65,727 till date, however, 614 victims have been lost to the virus as yet.
