However, with the recent spell of lashing rain in the city, there has been some help towards all this. At the same time, the rain also brought the city to a standstill.

According to the meteorological department, yesterday, Jaipur saw the highest rainfall of this season with a level of 93mm, which is higher than the average expected rainfall. The city quickly became home to roads filled with water, overflowing drains and people running for cover. In fact, many roads became so flooded that they were not fit for usage.
In addition to that, the rains also wreaked havoc as roads broke down and developed potholes. However, the rain also helped in that it gave a little bit of a rise to the ground water level and also curbed the drought like situation in the city. As per authorities, the rain water harvesting plants will be put to good use following this spell of heavy rain.

Apart from just that, the authorities have also been working to find out a solution to this life threatening crisis. As part of this, they plan to supply water to different parts of the city using water tankers and extending tube wells and hand pumps. At the same time, they have also stated that the extent of these practices will largely be based on how much rain the city receives during the monsoon season.
As far as rain predictions are concerned, the met department officials have stated that they are expecting it to rain for a few more days before the situation dies down and can be handled. Until then, Jaipurites will have to enjoy the rain from inside the comfort of their homes.
