Through the committed efforts of all three wings, the Indian Armed Forces have helped the country in alleviating the ongoing crisis in umpteen ways. As a part of this, the Indian Army has supplemented Rajasthan’s fight against the pandemic through its multiple interventions. From establishing a 50-bed facility in Shri Ganganagar to disbursement of ration kits in Barmer, the Army authorities are working on extensive programs across all areas of social and medical needs.

Centre with multiple facilities to aid COVID patients in Shri Ganganagar

Keeping in view the fast expansion in COVID cases in Sri Ganganagar, the Sudarshan Chakra Division of the Indian Army has set up a 50-bed hospital there. The L-2 COVID care centre will cater to patients from the district and surrounding areas, providing them with a range of facilities including supplemental oxygen. This latest centre was inaugurated by the DM of Shri Ganganagar, Zakir Hussain on Friday.

Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO Defence, Rajasthan informed that the centre was quickly instituted with the efforts of Army Doctors and paramedical staff in collaboration with District Officials and Jan Sewa Hospital. Besides trained medical staff and necessary equipment, the Indian Army has also provided Ambulance services. It has been stated that admission will be directed through a procedure including the district administration and Jan Sewa Hospital.

Folk artists in Barmer benefitted with free ration

In another welfare initiative, Konark Corps, Army’s Southern Command headquartered at Jodhpur, is conducting ration distribution drives for folk artists in Barmer. On Thursday, Jalipa Mil Station on behalf of Konark Corps extended the scope of their scheme to include 25 families of village Nimla in Sheo Tehsil of Barmer. Each family was given 25-30 kgs of dry ration ranging from atta, rice and cooking oil to dal and sugar. In addition to this, masks and sanitisers were also distributed to strengthen the preventive measures against the virus.

Due to the ensuing lockdown and ban on all public gatherings, the lives of the folk artists are reeling through really tough times. “Pragati Lok Kalyan Vikas Sansthan”, an NGO of the artists approached Konark Crops for aid and they quickly responded. Similar interventions were also worked out in 2020, the first year of the pandemic.

Additionally, an online OPD has been initiated for civilians by the Indian Army. Citizens residing in far-flung areas of Rajasthan can log on to http://eSanjeevaniopd.in and seek the required medical help from veteran AFMS doctors.
