When almost all of North India is flaming up in the scorching sun, Jaipur is a city that seems to have some relief from it all. Though it is often one of the hottest places in the summer, this time around, for the past couple of days, the city has been witnessing sandstorms, rainfall and on a few occasions, even hailstorms. Now, according to the Met department, this break from the inevitable heat could go on for the next five days and Jaipurites should celebrate it while they can.

On an average, in the past two days, not only Jaipur but the entire state of Rajasthan has seen a 5 degrees dip in the mercury. It was of course paired with dark clouds, pleasant winds and breezy evenings. Now, according to the Met department, this sort of weather is a result of the westerly winds which are prevalent right now and will stick around the city for a few more days.
This weather makes the city of Jaipur even more charming. Taking a walk along the historical lanes with the breeze in your face is an experience you have to have first hand. Jaipurites can certainly take a long drive with a few friends and have a gala time. Even for tourists, this will be beneficial as they can get out and see more of the city.

The change in the weather began on Saturday, when the winds were strong and the rain was hard hitting. Though the weather is pleasant in some ways, citizens must be aware that it can turn into a disastrous series of events. Several areas in the city have seen uprooted trees, fallen electricity lines and abrupt power cuts. These are just some of the major issues that have been caused by the sudden change in the city’s weather.
In fact, on Saturday, the city recorded an average minimum temperature of 25.2 degrees C which is a degree less than what it should be. The maximum temperature as well was low when compared to other cities. With the mercury rising to 37.6 degrees C, this was 3 degrees lower than the average maximum temperature.
Several parts of the city however did not witness the harsh turn of weather rather they were graced by light drizzles and pleasant winds. At any rate, the rainfall and heavy winds do provide a much needed relief from the scorching heat.
