In a bid to encourage people to rush the victims of road accidents to hospitals, the Rajasthan government announced the ‘”Jeevan Rakshak Yojana” scheme. Under the banner of this initiative, a reward of ₹5,000 and a citation will be provided to all those who rush the seriously injured to medical and health centres. Additionally, this scheme also protects the rights of the people who are taking the accident victim to the hospitals.

The Principal Secretary, Finance, Akhil Arora issued guidelines for the scheme titled “Jeevan Rakshak Yojana” in Rajasthan on Thursday. The scheme is set to benefit all those who take road accidents to private or government hospitals. It will further ensure that the person who helps the accident victim is treated respectfully at the hospital. They can also leave the medical centre premises immediately, without any restrictions.
If the victim is seriously injured, the citizen taking them to the nearest hospital will be awarded ₹5,000. A citation will also be handed to them, to acknowledge the good deed. As per the government, any patient who needs immediate hospitalisation for treatment is tagged as a seriously injured patient.

This will be decided at the discretion of the casualty medical officer at the emergency room. It is to be noted that if there is more than one person getting the victim to the hospital, then the reward sum and the citation will be divided equally among all.
As per reports, the campaign will be implemented by the State Health Ministry at the cost of the dedicated Road Safety Fund. A sum of ₹5 crores has been allocated in advance from the Road Safety Fund to progress the ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojna’ scheme. People can voluntarily register themselves with the medical officers at the emergency room of the hospitals. For this, they have to provide their name, age, gender, address, mobile number, identity card and bank account details.
