BCCI President Saurav Ganguly, along with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gahlot, BCCI Vice President CP Joshi and secretary Jay Shah on February 5, 2022, laid the foundation stone of the world’s third-largest International Cricket Stadium on the Jaipur-Delhi bypass road. The stadium will be built at an estimated cost of ₹300 crores, on 100 acres of land by the Rajasthan Cricket Association. The land on lease has already been handed over by Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) for the construction of the stadium to the governing body.

Construction of this state-of-the-art facility will take place in two phases, at first 40,000 spectators capacity will be built with 11 cricket pitches, on cricket academy, two practice grounds, a hostel, a sports club, a parking facility, a hotel and a gym. The second phase of the project will witness the construction of the seating capacity of another 35000 spectators, taking the total to 75,000 which is third after Motera Cricket Stadium with 1.10 lakhs and Australia’s Melbourne with 1 lakh seating capacity.
BCCI chairman, Sourav Ganguly in a statement said, “A lot of resources have been developed in the last ten years. Today BCCI is the leading cricket board in the world. I have spent many days in Jaipur. The SMS stadium here is wonderful. But now the world’s third-largest stadium is being built here in Jaipur which is a matter of happiness.”
RCA president Vaibhav said, “We aim to complete the project of this international stadium in two and a half to three years.” However, the Jaipur Development Authority commissioner Gaurav Goyal informed about the completion duration being close to five years.

Indian cricket has seen a lot of cricketers from Rajasthan in recent years, with the inception of the Indian Premier League, the tournament has given a big boost to the cricketers from the small towns. Young players like Deepak Chahar, Mahipal, Rahul Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed and Ravi Bishnoi, in the Indian Cricket team, is a big achievement for the state.

The officials also announced the construction of a stadium each for Jodhpur and Udaipur in the coming time.
