IIT Kanpur has once again risen as the city’s saviour amid the COVID-19 despair. On Sunday, the Institute donated 4 ‘IIT-K incubated Noccarc ventilators’ to the LLR Hospitals and GSVM Medical College as emergency supplies. Reportedly, these ventilators were shipped from Pune on Friday and were relayed as urgent support to the medical institutions.

On Thursday, the Director of the IIT Kanpur received a distress call from the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College to help repair their ICU ventilators. However, it was realised that the repair work would be a difficult task considering the equipment belonged to other manufacturers. Based on their critical and urgent need, the Director reached out to the Noccarc Team who responded positively, with promptness.
The team provided 4 new Noccarc ventilators, which were then donated to save the lives of COVID-19 patients in Kanpur. Dr R.B Kamal, Principal and Dean of the Medical College, Prof S Ganesh, Deputy Director and Prof Amitabha Bandyopadhyay of IIT-K’s Aerospace Engineering Department, were present along with the Municipal Commissioner and the DM of Kanpur to witness the charity. The director of the institute has stated that this will surely aid the patients battling the coronavirus infection in Kanpur.
