Renowned for his modern vision of traditional Indian silhouettes, the seminal fashion designer Aseem Kapoor is now launching his womenswear collection ‘Ambi’ in Kanpur.
A fresh breeze for fashionistas in Kanpur, the Aseem Kapoor label will be exhibited at Amiraah, a multi-brand luxury fashion boutique. The event, on April 13, will be an exclusive affair with a meet-and-greet with the famed designer himself.
About the designer and the collection
Aseem Kapoor, NIFT alumni and a household name in the fashion industry has been under the wing of veteran designer Tarun Tahiliani. He is known for his ethnic-inspired ensembles and his hueful collection — rich with layered textures, whilst rendering a bohemian maximalist vibe.
“The collection ‘Ambi’ for us is a tattered nostalgia of a vintage kanni jamevaar spliced with Byzantium jewels and aged metal yarns,” the designed shared in a press release.
“The story goes back to my mother’s inherited heirloom, rare woven Ambi tapestry, which we later stretched on a wooden frame and hung on the wall…”
The series revolves around shades of tailored trousers, kaftans, culottes, and tunics, and speaks volumes of exquisite craftsmanship and design. With hand-painted motifs, the silhouettes hit the style and comfort crescendo.
