Lucknow for the past nine days has been virus free, as no new coronavirus positive case had surfaced in the city since March 20th, when 4 new cases were reported here on the same day. However, after 9 days without any new positive coronavirus case, a new case was reported in the city on Monday.
A 73-year-old woman complaining of urinary tract infection was tested positive for the coronavirus disease after coming in contact with her daughter in law, who had tested positive for Covid-19 on 10th of March.

Lucknow reported its first coronavirus positive case on March 10th when a female doctor, who had recently returned from Toronto, tested positive for the disease. According to several reports her family and relatives (anyone who came in close contact) were tested for Covid-19 and were reported to be negative. The 35 year-old doctor was then treated at KGMU and had been released on 21st March when her test came back negative for the coronavirus disease.
However, her mother in law, who then had tested negative for the Covid-19 disease, has tested positive on Monday. She is currently admitted in Lucknow’s Command Hospital.

Since the new positive case- the elderly woman, had last come in contact with her (then infected) daughter in law 18 days ago, and has tested positive now after testing negative previously, has put the doctors in a state of shock.
This new case has raised the total count of coronavirus positive cases in Lucknow to 9.
Knock Knock
Compared to other cities in the country, Lucknow had observed a steadily slower rate of contraction as only a few cases had been reported positive and their contacts were tracked and isolated. The government has taken various measures including the isolation of doctors at luxury hotels, nullifying the rent of tenants living in the city for one month, arrangement of 12,000 vehicles for the doorstep delivery of ration and essential commodities and an enforcement of a strict lockdown.
It is now our duty as citizens and residents of the city to follow the advisory issued by the government for the sake of our safety and the wellbeing of our loved ones.
