The women power line intersection, popularly called the 1090 chauraha, is also a popular street food location in Lucknow! This is where the nawabs of Lucknow can be found in the evenings, enjoying a variety of flavours while chilling with friends.

This empty lane of Gomti Nagar comes to life when the sun goes down and if you’re looking to explore it, here’s the ultimate food map to 1090 chowraha:

Soya Chaap

[rebelmouse-image 22616523 original_size=”1280×960″ expand=1]

You cannot be at 1090 chauraha and not try the soya chaap. I mean it would be a proper sin. There are a number of soya chaap places here, the ‘Dilli wale soya chaap’ is of course famous but we feel it is a little over-hyped. The one that stands out though, is ‘Shiva Chaap’. The people who work here actually care about the stuff they sell and it shows. Their malai chaap and the classic tandoori, both are quite flavourful especially with the onions.

Momos

[rebelmouse-image 22616524 original_size=”1280×960″ expand=1]

If you are a true momo lover, you might be a little disappointed with the absence of meat in the street food market. Don’t sweat, the beautiful char-grilled tandoori mushroom, paneer and veggie momos are tasty enough to tickle your taste-buds. We again love Shiva’s tandoori momos, but no-one here does the dumplings more justice than The fat dumpling!

Tandoori Chai

[rebelmouse-image 22616525 original_size=”1280×960″ expand=1]

Okay, we know it’s a proper gimmic but is there someone who can say no to this wonder? The brewed tea hitting the over baked pot, the sizzle it creates, the way it cooks, overflows and bubbles away, adds to the charm of drinking chai here. Try Rodstar and Tandoori Fusion. The tea, here, is a bit more flavourful and creamy.

Bhel Puri

[rebelmouse-image 22616526 original_size=”1280×960″ expand=1]

If you’re here to chill with friends or catch-up with the special someone, and need a little something to snack on, we recommend having the bhel-puri. From spicy-hot, to sour and tangy, the puffed rice peanuts and corn flakes are irresistible.

Milk Badam

[rebelmouse-image 22616527 original_size=”1280×960″ expand=1]

There are two kind of people people, one, who like milk badam and the others who love it. If you fall in the second category do try the milk badam at the 1090 food market. Their stuff is creamy, it’s milky, it’s the right consistency, not too sweet and extremely satisfying.

Pav Bhaji

[rebelmouse-image 22616528 original_size=”1280×960″ expand=1]

If you’re in love with the thick, spicy, creamy and swimming in butter bhaji which instantly makes you lick your fingers, you need to try Bombay Ki Mashoor pav bhaji. The buns are toasted to perfection and the bhaji tastes like a dream with raw onions, fresh coriander and a wedge of lime.

Maggi

[rebelmouse-image 22616529 original_size=”1280×960″ expand=1]

We love maggi, we love our maggis so much that we bought some in black when the government banned it. So it is obvious that anywhere and everywhere we find maggi, we eat it. If you too are looking for a plateful of maggi to warm your heart, try Sai Tea Stall and you’ll have the simplest most amazing maggi ever. No gimmicy tandoori or kullhad maggis here!

Chinese

[rebelmouse-image 22616530 original_size=”1280×960″ expand=1]

Again, we love our Chinese food, we love it so much that we’ve changed it to become more like us, spicier, more colourful and bolder. If you feel like hogging a plateful of noodles, spring rolls or the crispy-honey-chili-potatoey goodness, try the Chinese at The Fat Dumpling and Thapa Chinese Fast Food.

So grab a few friends and after you’ve enjoyed the scenic beauty of Marine Drive, go do a little pet-pooja ‘cuz what is life if not a big tasting adventure.
