In an attempt to ease the burden on the over-stretched medical infrastructures in the city, Haj House in Lucknow’s Sarojini Nagar has been converted into a COVID hospital with a capacity of 255 beds. Backed by the collaborative efforts of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and the state administration, it is expected that this L-3 centre will start operations in a day or two. Reportedly, the state government will manage the facility via Care India, an NGO and charity organisation and HAL is providing the technical aid.
Beds for L-2 and L-3 patients available at the hospital
The total of 225 beds present at the hospital is divided amongst the patients from L-2 and L-3 categories. Besides a count of 130 oxygenated beds available here, the healthcare centre also encapsulates 100 high-flow nasal cannula beds and 25 units equipped with ventilators. Through these specialised facilities, the hospital is expected to cater to a large count of COVID patients.
All patients in the hospital will be monitored with CCTV cameras from a control room. Further, there is a separate provision for triaging of patients while a helpdesk is also available to provide all related information. It has been stated that the attendees will be informed about the condition of the patients between 3 to 5 PM every day.
Resourced with a range of technical facilities by HAL

As per reports, HAL has helped in equipping the centre with resources like X-Ray machines, nebulizers, oximeter, wheelchair, stretchers, BP monitors, Multi Para Display Monitors for ICU beds and a list of other essential things. Given the continuous efforts of multiple bodies, the hospital is ready to be functional in a very short span of time. Once the centre initiates the process of admissions, it will definitely mitigate the pressure on the city’s healthcare setup.
