Divesh started out his career while he was too young to know anything about the DJ-life yet old enough to explore this horizon, which came with its set of ups and downs.
The idea of a boy from Delhi with aspirations of being a DJ, just like many others, didn’t sit well with his parents, just like many others’. But with a promise of never playing at shaadis, determination to learn and a passion for all things musical, Divesh set out on a journey. He started under the guidance of DJ Meet (at MKOP in Delhi) and although he’s 19 years into this field now, he still prides in learning about music every day.
“I started out in Delhi during trying times with just a vision of making good music and no leads to look up to at first. But then came in DJ Kary Arora, who’s tagged as India’s first female DJ and my life was uphill from then on. I learned every bit of DJ-ing from her and till date, she’s my biggest inspiration and motivation. From handling the cables to the setting the mood for a party with a spin, DJ Kary has always been a mentor to me. I have also had residencies at clubs like Red, Addiction and Reverb in Delhi; all of this too, made me who I am today. “

Making the crowds sway till dawn without offering himself even a day’s break, DJ Divesh has carved a niche for himself through his beats and remixes. Known as the Retro King amidst the DJ circuit in Lucknow, Divesh offers simplicity at its best.
“Puraani cheezein dil ke qareeb hoti hai. I have been mastering the art of remixes and new sounds in the retro music genre and so far, I’m glad that I’ve become synonymous to the title given to me by my fellow-DJs, here in Lucknow. While spinning at the console, for me, it becomes all about connecting to the party folks in front of me. That’s my USP too- connecting to people through my A/V presentations.”

After swaying to and from Delhi-Lucknow over a couple of years, DJ D’vesh can now be found playing at SkyBar on Fridays and TAPS on Saturdays, as a resident DJ.
“I started my journey as a DJ in Lucknow, at the Zero Degree lounge and then I moved on to other pubs and bars to explore this avenue. Previously, I’ve played in Lucknow at Social Hauz, Iron Core Fit, Urban Qettle, Scott & a Barrell and Munick too, amidst others and since then, my efforts have always been to build up a thriving nightlife in the city. Now when I look back, I know that being exploited by companies and other popular DJs was a blessing in disguise. It was all a part of the learning process but even as a resident DJ now, I am learning every night.”
Knock Knock
DJ D’vesh owns a studio too, called Decibel Records and if you’re an aspiring DJ, you can totally check it out. Although DJ D’vesh is highly selective of other DJs joining his clan, once you join him, it’ll all be a learning experience like no other.
DJ D’vesh also spins at private house and club parties and along with poppin’ beats, he provides services of customised A/V set-ups, of all sorts.
Decibel Records is soon releasing a couple of ol’ school B-town bootleg remixes this February and if you’re lucky, you might be able to catch a few of these melodies at the clubs he plays at.
