In a bid to speed up the process of vaccination, now the historic Chota Imambara of Lucknow has been converted into a vaccination centre. This decision has been made by the District Health Department, after the site was visited by health officials on Thursday night. All adults who are eligible for the immunisation drive will be able to get their jabs at this centre, as soon as it becomes functional.

The historic Chota Imambara of Lucknow is now being converted into a vaccination centre. A team of health officials, along with the Chief Medical Officer and District Immunisation Officer, surveyed the site on Thursday night, before making this decision. Accompanying them was the Majlis-e-Ulama-e Hind General Secretary- Maulana Kalbe Jawwad.
The District Immunisation Officer stated that after careful examination of the site (Chota Imambara), it has been decided that a vaccination centre should be opened there. Further, details regarding how and when this centre will become fully functional, is to be decided upon soon.
Why are historical places being converted into vax centres?
A major tourist attraction in the city which is managed by the Hussainabad and Allied Trust, Chota Imambara is the second historical monument chosen after Aishbagh Eidgah. It is expected that using historical places as vaccination centre will encourage the population living nearby to get inoculated at the earliest.
