From clothing to condiments, from footwear to paintings, from idols to bags — this place has everything made of Khadi.
Promoting Khadi as a symbol of self-reliance
Narrating a rich history, the Gandhi Ashram was set up before Independence in the 1920s (as shared by the employees of the place), under the guidance of Mahatma Gandhi himself. The purpose of its establishment was twofold — to promote the use of Khadi as a symbol of self-reliance and to support local artisans economically, also providing them a platform to showcase their craftsmanship.
Vibrant products from all across India displayed at Gandhi Ashram in all grandeur
Neatly arranged on shelves, the store has a humongous variety of Khadi wear. The diverse materials include silk, cotton, woolen, and more, with works of weaving, and block-printing, among others. These are showcased in the form of vibrant sarees, kurta-sets, suits, rugs, bedsheets, towels, dhoti, pillows, carpets, pooja rugs (asani), files, and so on.
Set on two floors, the upper floor shelters woolen clothing and furnishing items in one section and ready-made wear in another.
Spreading the message of eco-friendly practices further, products made of Khadi, by artisans all over India, are displayed here in all grandeur.
