South Asia’s first-ever borderless digital film festival, Indus Valley International Film Festival (IVIFF), powered by SAFACH (South Asia Forum for Art & Creative Heritage) is commencing on October 2nd and will conclude on the 10th of October. This 9-day long fest will be a grand celebration of the spirit of cinema, unlike any other you’ve witnessed before. This will be the 2nd season of IVIFF and it will include film screenings, workshops, masterclasses, interaction with celebrities, concerts, an award ceremony and so on. IVIFF will be anchored by Indian theater and film actor, Vinay Pathak and he will be joined by Alyy Khan, who is a British-Pakistani actor. The line-up of movies which are set to be premiered and screened, have us excited because the administrative body has sourced them all from different regions of South-Asia; so you can absolutely expect a ton of diversity in play!
Starting from comedy to thrillers, superhero stuff to ideological drama, they’ll be showcasing all sorts of films for the interested cinephiles. The list includes- Anaagat, Bizli, Chitrakut, Gandhi, Navigator, Paangshu, Radical Camp, The Birth Land, Suparna, The Electrishman & the three Elves, Pataakha, Nolok, Thanha Rathi Ranga, Jhalki…A Different Childhood, Alpha Adimai, Manto, Maya The Lost Mother, Motorcycle Girl, 3rd Stanza, A Cup Of Coffee, Kokoli, Ho Mann Jahaan, Moor, amidst others. The first film to be showcased will be Padman and the festival will also witness a premiere of a film by Rajat Kapoor– ‘Kadakh’, on the 3rd of October.
Another internationally award-winning feature documentary film from Pakistan- The Walnut tree, directed by Ammar Aziz will be screened at the fest and the actors too, will be present here for interactions. The latest Indian feature documentary film, The Windfall of Grace, which is based on Neem Karoli Baba, will be screened at the fest for the public, first time ever.
You can even take part in a workshop related to script writing, fiction and documentary filmmaking, by Brahmanand S. Singh, who is a national-award winning filmmaker and author. There’ll also be panel discussions on various subjects, one such topic, ‘Portrayal of LGBT in Cinema’, to be attended by filmmaker Onir and producer Sanjay Suri.
