With the Khelo India University Games 2022 in UP only a fortnight away, preparations in the state capital are in full swing to host the grand opening ceremony on May 25.
Dr. Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Uttar Pradesh, conducted inspection of the venues for the opening and closing ceremony and issued instructions to the officials to complete preparations by May 15.
Babu Banarasi Das University chosen as venue for opening ceremony
Khelo India University Games opening ceremony will be held at Babu Banarasi Das University on May 25, while the closing ceremony of the games will be held in Varanasi. The entire BBD University is being painted in the colors of KIUG 2022 and preparations are reaching its final stages for the grand opening which will feature a slew of cultural performances.
As for the other arrangements, hostels for 800 women and 400 men have been readied at BBD University and a control room will soon be set up in the campus for players to get quick and convenient information at any time. Necessary facilities like security arrangements, drinking water and adequate parking space for visitors will also be ensured at the venue.
KIUG 2022 mascot already a big hit among fans
The torch rally with the KIUG mascot ‘Jeetu’ have already travelled through Rampur, Agra, Hardoi, Mathura and Firozabad and are now all set to visit Varanasi, Jaunpur and Prayagraj on their glorious journey.
The cultural and artistic performances that are being held at the torch rally is reaching new destinations are being appreciated greatly by the audiences and the mascot ‘Jeetu’ is being showered with lots of love from the attendees.
