Lucknow Municipal Corporation is working on an innovative scheme to install number plates with unique IDs in households across the city. As per sources, this project will be implemented in multiple localities, where Geographic Information System(GIS) surveys have been concluded, which includes the areas of Gomti Nagar and Indira Nagar. These unique IDs shall be linked to a database of extensive information, including the status of tax deposition, stored on a virtual platform.
17 digit number coupled with QR code to give comprehensive information
Being launched with an objective to ensure regulated tax collection, this project entails that sufficient data regarding the home shall be linked with the unique ID accorded to it. For this purpose, each number plate shall have a unique QR code that would give all information about the status of the tax upon scanning.
According to the provisions laid out by the officials, a specific system shall be followed for assigning unique IDs to the houses. While the first two digits shall represent the state code, third to fifth numerals shall be indicative of the municipality, under whose jurisdiction lies the said house. In addition to this, the sixth and seventh digits will be based on the municipal zone. Apart from this, numerals from eight to ten and eleven to sixteen shall represent the ward code and wealth code respectively. Further, there will also be a seventeenth digit pointing if the location is used for residential or non-residential purposes.
GIS survey completed in 6 out of 8 zones under Municipal Corporation
Out of eight zones under the municipal corporation, GIS surveys have already been initiated in six zones. It is undergoing in the fifth and sixth zones currently. As per records, the municipal corporation has 6 lakh homes under its authority. As per the current plans, it is expected that a total of 50,000 households shall be equipped with unique number plates in the first round.
