An order issued from the office of the Chief Medical Officer in Lucknow caps the treatment cost of COVID-19 patients as regulated by the state government. These newly modulated admission and treatment costs are inclusive of all medical services and equipments required such as-isolation beds, PPE kits, oxygen support, etc. This directive needs to be followed by all private hospitals and covid care centres in Lucknow with immediate effect.
Order Specifications
The single day medical treatment cost of each positive individual in Lucknow hospitals and covid care facilities has been established and set by the UP government. These caps have been introduced in three major slabs depending on the services and equipment provided.
For isolation beds and supportive care including oxygen, an amount of ₹10,000 will be charged for one day. This amount is inclusive of a PPE kit worth ₹1200. Beds in Intensive Care Units without ventilator support will be levied at ₹15,000 per day and those with ventilators, at ₹18,000 per day, both inclusive of a ₹2000 PPE kit. Any amount billed over these specified sums will be punishable under relevant penal codes.
To ensure strict implementation of this order by all hospitals affiliated to the Lucknow integrated control and command centre, an order to generate 3 copies of everyday COVID-19 treatment bill for each patient has been directed by the CMO. One of these 3 copies must compulsorily be presented to the city CMO, everyday. If any other distinguished treatment or services is provided to the patient apart from that of coronavirus, a clear mention and reason for the same has to be specified.
