After showcasing a decline for four consecutive days, a total of 279 new COVID infections were reported in Lucknow on Tuesday, indicating a hike yet again. No fatality reported in the city on Tuesday

While the fresh COVID case count has increased in Lucknow, the active caseload continues to recede in the capital city. With a total of 351 recoveries marked on Tuesday, the active case count in the city has gone down to 2,352. Since no fatality was reported during the same period, the cumulative death toll remained fixed at 2,682 cases, as of February 15.
Reportedly, the maximum number of cases reported on Tuesday were detected in Chinhat (52), followed by Aliganj (44) and Indiranagar (32). Notably, the Omicron-triggered third wave that started on December 22 has infected 56,658 people so far. Out of these, 54,270 patients have already marked their recovery whereas 36 patients have succumbed to this deadly virus in the same period.
While talking about the third wave, a senior health official said, “The severity of the third wave has been lesser than the second wave. It might be because of large-scale vaccination or due to the less virulent variant of the virus prevalent at present.”

As per official data, around 18,651 people were inoculated against coronavirus in Lucknow on Tuesday. Out of these, 4,962 beneficiaries received their first dose whereas 12,038 took the second jab. Additionally, 1,651 people took the third dose in the city on Tuesday.
Ever since the beginning of the nationwide vaccination drive against COVID, a total of 27,85,15,030 doses have been dispensed in Uttar Pradesh so far, including 76,83,907 doses in Lucknow alone. As per the data available on CoWIN, more than 33 lakh beneficiaries in Lucknow have been fully vaccinated against this deadly virus, as of February 16.
