The ongoing 3-day route-diversion at the Lucknow-Delhi Expressway will end today, streamlining the regular flow of traffic. Reportedly, the vehicular deflection was first imposed here on Sunday by the Hapur Police to prevent traffic jams across River Ganga, induced by devotees travelling to Mathura (Braj ke Ghat) for the occasion of Maha Shivratri. Acceding to the demands of the Amroha Police, the Hapur Police had announced a 3-day diversion on the Lucknow-Delhi Highway, which will end today. The redirection plan was put into place when the one-way-route strategy to Mathura collapsed, causing a choking traffic jam on the Yamuna Expressway.
This landlock extended across River Ganga, from Brajghat to Gajraula, as devotees started pouring from Moradabad and Bareilly divisions. Pilgrims from all the districts of Meerut also added to the load here, intensifying traffic congestion of the main highway. Additionally, the influx of Haridwar processions coming from the Moradabad side, failed the one-way route strategy on the highway, stretching the jam on the highway in Amroha.
In wake of this, the Hapur Police is diverting heavy vehicles from Sayana Chopla of Garh to Bulandshahar. The plan has been in motion for 2 days and will continue today. Travellers on this route are advised to take note to avoid traffic.
The route diversion will be revoked by end of the day today with Shivratri festivities wrapping up. This will allow regular flow of traffic here, easing commute for all.
