In an attempt to improve the traffic situation in the city, Lucknow Development Authority has planned to establish multilevel parking and co-residential complex in Chowk. As per the current proposals, residential apartments with multilevel parking will be set up by LDA on the empty land of Nazul, located near the fire station in Chowk. The residential apartments will be built by LDA, atop the multilevel parking, in order to cover the costs of the project.
A move to diffuse the regularly witnessed traffic jams in Chowk
District Magistrate and the VC of Lucknow Development Authority, Abhishek Prakash conducted an inspection of the land behind the fire station near Koneshwar Chauraha. The official was accompanied by the secretary of the organisation, Pawan Gangwar for the assessment. Making a note of the present circumstances, he instructed the officials to prepare a further plan of action.
He affirmed that the huge expanse of Nazul land near Lajpat Nagar Colony’s Koneshwar intersection will be put to alternate usage. Further, the upcoming parking will be set up in such a way so that the regular traffic jams in the Chowk area can be mitigated. Additionally, LDA will be able to cover the cost of parking space by selling out the quarters in the proposed residential building. Keeping these things in view, the officials have been asked to prepare a strengthened framework.
Areas around Rumi Gate, KGMU to be benefitted
Reportedly, Additional Chief Secretary UP, Awanish Kumar Awasthi has given approval for the use of the land in multi-level parking. During the inspection, the authorities deliberated upon the design of the multi-level parking. Besides, the viable width of the road for proper entry of vehicles was also discussed.
It is expected that commuters travelling to Chowk Stadium, Ghantaghar, Rumi Gate, Teal Wali Masjid, Bada Imambara, KGMU, Buddha Park, Elephant Park and Atal Bihari Convention Center and the surrounding locations will be benefited from this new development. They will be able to park their vehicles in a safe and secure space while the issues of traffic jams will also be resolved.
