As a relentless heatwave grips Lucknow, classrooms across the city are switching to cooler hours. From April 22, the district administration has mandated revised timings for all schools, government and private, from pre- primary up to Class 8, bringing in a uniform early schedule to help students avoid peak afternoon heat.
Under the new directive, classes will now be held from 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM, helping students avoid exposure to the harsh afternoon sun, while teachers will remain on campus till 1:30 PM for academic and administrative duties. With temperatures inching towards the mid-40s, concerns around student health and safety have been steadily rising, prompting this early start approach.
The move is part of a broader heatwave response across Uttar Pradesh, where authorities are keeping a close watch on weather conditions. For now, it’s an early bell for schools in Lucknow, ensuring learning continues without compromising on student well-being.
