In the last week, Lucknow’s COVID scale with respect to new infections, has clocked an average of 20 cases every day and on Thursday, the tally hovered at the 24 mark. While recovery has been steady here, the number of discharges remained limited to just 12 recoveries, just half of the count of fresh detections. With these statistics, Lucknow nurses an aggregate of 281 active cases, the highest across Uttar Pradesh.
Lucknow crosses the second wave swell
Trudging past the horrors of the second wave of coronavirus, Lucknow has managed to restore normalcy with a curbed 0.1% positivity rate in the last week. However, experts have highlighted that continued precaution post the peak of the infection, is crucial to prevent another unprecedented surge.
As such, the district administration has ramped up testing and vaccination in the urban as well as rural limits to guard up against the pandemic. Arrangements for PICUs and NICUs, ahead of the anticipated third wave, are also underway.
Much like the rest of the state, Lucknow has waged a war against the COVID swell and is conducting sampling, testing, tracing, treatment and inoculation, at a war footing. The state capital has been the epicentre of coronavirus rise in Uttar Pradesh and thus, it also established its agency as the most sought treatment hub of the same. The district saw the establishment of several provisional facilities through the months of April and May to fill up the cracks of the collapsing healthcare system.
UP achieves 1 crore vaccination target on Thursday
While Lucknow pushed its resources to set up mega inoculation centres and other sites to expedite jab coverage, with efficiency, the state achieved the 1 crore vaccination target on Thursday. Facilitated under the banner of the state’s Mission June, the Uttar Pradesh administration had set an ambition of inoculating about 1 crore people in June and the target was achieved days before its deadline, the Additional Chief Secretary of Health, informed. Lucknow has provided around 13.2 lakh doses of the vaccine, while UP’s total stand over the 2.8 crore mark, as yet.
