Who isn’t aware of the fact that going to Chowk is an experience in itself? The narrow lanes, though extremely beautiful and a vital part of the city are one of the most crowded. It is not only difficult to drive through Chowk but also walking is a chore.
But commuters will not have to face this problem for much longer because Chowk is soon to get a multi level parking surely to resolve all the traffic woes.
The parking lot costs over ₹48 crores and will be 6,000 square meters in area. The proposed site for the parking is Jyotiba Phule Park near Kanchan Market. It will have a capacity for 450 cars and 150 two-wheelers.
The charges are set at ₹25 and ₹15 for four-wheelers and two-wheelers, respectively for a set time limit. The parking lot that was supposed to be finished by 2017, but the construction was delayed because of a delay in release of funds, is in its final phase.

The lanes and by-lanes of Chowk are always bustling and there’s always someone out here looking for that perfect chikankari sari or the zardozi lehenga, eating makkhan malai, kulcha nihari or simply exploring the old city. Which is why something as simple as walking through the lanes becomes harrowing. The parking lot will end traffic issues near Kanchan Market, Phool Mandi, Asifi Masjid and Lohia Park.
Just imagine how easy it would get to grab Raja ki Thandai, Idrees ki Biriyani and show all your friends around the beautiful lanes of chowk, whose old world charm is other-worldly!
