Ahead of the mega-auction of this year’s edition of the Indian Premier League slated to be held on February 12 -13, the debutant franchise, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) unveiled their team logo on Monday. Drawing inspiration from ancient Indian mythology, the brand new logo represents the game of cricket and how! With the incorporation of Saffron, White and Green colours from the national flag of India, the team logo has not only made the city folks excited but also attracted the entire country alike!

Talking about the newly-unveiled logo of the Lucknow Super Giants, the franchise said, “The mythical bird Garuda — who is a protector and enthroned with the power to move swiftly, has inspired us to create the winged emblem of the team. Garuda is omnipresent in every Indian culture and sub-culture”.
“The tri-colour wings of the entity, symbolically represent Lucknow Super Giants’ pan-India appeal. The body of the bird has been formed by a blue coloured bat to signify the game of cricket, there is a red ball with an orange seam too. It is like an auspicious ‘Jay tilak’,” added the LSG.

Notably, the Lucknow franchise was bagged by the Sanjiv Goenka-owned RPSG group for a whopping ₹7,090 crores, which makes it the costliest team of IPL, so far. Apart from this, the team is set to be led by KL Rahul, who was bagged by LSG for 17 crores, making him one of the two highest-paid cricketers of the series.
Before going for the mega-auction slated this month, the Lucknow Super Giants have also selected Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis for ₹9.2 crores and spinner Ravi Bishnoi for ₹4 crores. The team will now complete its squad with a purse of ₹59 crores in the mega-auction.
Meanwhile, the coaching board of this newly launched team has also been finalised by the officials of the franchise. While Andy Flower has been chosen as the head coach of LSG, Gautam Gambhir is going to offer his mentorship to this franchise.
