The worst-hit district of UP, till date Lucknow has reported 57,716 confirmed corona victims and the city also has 51,996 recoveries to its credit. Although the past few weeks have shown slight changes in a better direction, the infection is still severe and citizens, especially the senior ones, need to be cautious at all times. Keeping the upcoming festivities in sight, the Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday, issued a new set of guidelines to be followed during this month and in November. No festive events will be allowed in containment zones.

330 corona patients & 4 deaths reported within 24 hours

The months of October to December, are viewed as festive months and it pulls in gatherings of large number of people in specified areas for religious worship, fairs, rallies, exhibitions, cultural functions, processions and so on. These events usually last for a day or a week or even more. To arrest the spread of this contagious infection during Durga Puja and Ramleela, it is important that necessary preventive measures are followed at all times.

The released SoP outlines various precautionary means to be adopted, in addition to specific ones to be put into action to prevent the spread of COVID-19. According to it, no public activities can be held without permission from the district administration and containment zones will be kept under strict restrictions without any changes. The venues should have a separate entrance and exit points and they need to be equipped with sanitization systems, thermal scanning, physical distancing circles on the ground/floor and hand sanitization facilities.

Each venue, will also need to have isolation rooms for any person displaying COVID-19 symptoms. Close circuit cameras and so on, maybe considered to monitor compliance of physical distance norms and wearing of masks at each venue. All the sites need to have covered bins for carefully disposing masks, gloves, or similar items. Event organizers/business owners will have to make suitable provisions for contact less payment, in case of transactions. Even the number of visitors inside the event venue, shall be restricted in accordance with the order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
