The work on the much-awaited Khurramnagar Flyover in Lucknow is expected to start in August this year. Once ready, the flyover is expected to benefit over 45,000 daily commuters in the city. Stretching over a length of 2.5 Kms, the 4-lane flyover will be constructed at an approximate cost of ₹180 crores. While the executive body for administering this project will be selected in June, focused efforts are being deployed to make sure that the construction of the flyover is completed within 18 months.
Flyover expected to be ready by December 2022!
Being initiated to dissolve the clutter of vehicles on one of Lucknow’s busiest routes, this flyover will improve the traffic conditions on Ring road. Dharamvir Singh, Executive Engineer in the National Highway Division of Public Works Department informed that the process for acquiring tenders has been initiated, which is expected to be completed in June. After the executive body is formalised, the construction is slated to start within two months. If all plans adhere to the estimated timeline, then Lucknowites will soon be advantaged by the latest flyover.
Further, it has been affirmed that the new facility will be ready to host traffic by December 2022. Passing through Khurramnagar crossing and sector-25 road intersection, the flyover will help in resolving the problems at both these traffic hotspots. In addition to this, the authorities have also made provisions for underpasses at these points, for smooth movement of local traffic.
Facility to be linked to Kukrail Flyover in the second phase
While Khurramnagar to Sector 25 section will be built in the first phase, the second phase would witness the construction of cloverleaf directed towards Kurkrail flyover. Given these interventions, the Khurramnagar facility will be connected straight to the Kukrail flyover. As of now, the traffic movement is not streamlined and there is mostly a possibility of an impending accident. With the increasing burden on city roads, such targetted measures have become a need of the hour to prevent mishappenings.
