Lucknow’s Kukrail Night Safari on track for 2026 launch; Here’s what’s in store:

Lucknow Zoo is all set to shift to the sprawling Kukrail Reserve Forest, marking the beginning of a transformative wildlife project. The Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has given an in-principle nod to the detailed project report (DPR), and plans are underway to develop the new facility as a state-of-the-art wildlife park. Slated to open by December 2026, the park will not only provide a larger and more naturalistic environment for the animals but will also offer visitors an immersive experience with expansive habitats and modern amenities.

The Kukrail wildlife park will offer more room for animal conservation and interactive, educational areas for visitors. It also promises to be a sanctuary of biodiversity and a must-visit spot for locals and tourists.

Ambitious plans for integrating several recreational facilities

With the project greenlit by the Central Zoo Authority, the CM has directed Lucknow Zoo authorities to begin identifying animals, setting up quarantine facilities, and bringing them in. The daytime and night safari will span 900 acres, with 72% of the area dedicated to greenery and a focus on solar energy projects for sustainability. Key facilities that have been planned include:

• The Kukrail Wildlife Park will offer daytime and night safari options, along with amenities like cafeterias, a 7D theatre, an auditorium and ample parking space.

• Enclosures will be created for carnivores, while several birds and deer will roam freely for visitors to view during safaris.

• Plans include an adventure zone with attractions such as a zip line, Burma bridge, pedal boats, a sky roller, and activities for children.

• Arrangements will be made for a quarantine centre, veterinary hospital, post-operative facilities and an operation theatre.

Kukrail to become a new hub for wildlife & tourism

Efforts to relocate the Lucknow Zoo to the Kukrail Reserve Forest area have been ongoing for over a year. The administration has cleared illegal encroachments from the designated forest land, creating more space for the project. Construction of enclosures is also in progress within the Kukrail Picnic Spot area.

Lucknow is all set to host the country’s first night safari, a one-of-a-kind experience expected to draw tourists from across the nation and beyond. Offering a rare opportunity to witness nocturnal wildlife in its natural habitat, this innovative project aims to elevate the Kukrail Reserve Forest into a premier destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.

Complementing the safari, additional attractions are being planned around the reserve to make it a hub of tourism, further establishing Lucknow as a must-visit city for unique experiences.
